JOOUST Africa Centre of Excellence in Sustainable use of Insects as Food and Feeds (INSEFOODS) welcomed the project’s National Steering Committee today. The purpose of the visit was to monitor the project’s implementation progress.
While welcoming the guests, the Vice Chancellor Prof Stephen Agong’ thanked the members for their continued effort in supporting the project. Notably present was The Chief Administrative Secretary and Principal Secretary, State Department of Education and Research, Prof. Collette A. Suda who encouraged the three ACE II teams to work extremely diligently and remain committed to the project. She further urged them to work together as a team, and make the most of this rare but unique opportunity.
Making remarks after the a detailed presentation by Dr. Darius Andika, the Director INSEFOODS, Ruth Charo from world Bank appreciated the progress made over the past 6 months and applauded the University Management for its involvement in the project which exuded a great spirit of leadership.
Among the many achievements made by the project since inception, the center has been able to admit postgraduate students locally and regionally by creating funding opportunity to study key topics in relation to the project. INSEFOODS has also managed to secure more funding opportunities to the tune of 2.1 million to facilitate the research processes carried out in the center.
The meeting also had representatives from the Ministry of Education and two Africa Centres of Excellence (ACE II) teams namely Moi University and Egerton University.
Wishing them well, the vice chancellor thanked everyone for their active participation through the sessions further appreciating the candid contributions made.
