JOOUST FOSTERS PATNERSHIP WITH NORTHWEST A&F UNIVERSITY

 

Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Northwest A&F University on the construction of a Confucius Institute.

This was preceded by a preliminary visit by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Agong’, Prof. Bernard Muok, the Director for Center of Research Innovation and Technology and Prof. Dennis Ochuodho, the Director Board of Postgraduate Studies to the China based University. Through this partnership, the University aims to enhance joint research activity with Northwest A&F University as well as promote student and staff exchange programmes.

While welcoming the guests the Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Agong’ said that the University will work hand in hand with the partnering University to have a strong program in Food Security. He added “This collaboration will enable us to learn from you through mutual interactions in unique subject areas such as Archery and indigenous poultry.”

Speaking during the signing of the MOU, the Vice President Northwest A&F University, Zhao Zhong thanked the Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Agong’ for the preliminary visit to their campus saying they have extended the same kindness by visiting JOOUST for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding as a sign of their sincerity. He added that based on the discussions during the visit, the Universities arrived at a mutual understanding and that the MOU is a step further towards the partnership.

The Confucius Institute will enable learning of the Chinese language and culture as well as support the joint research projects between the two Universities in similar areas of interest in research and innovation.

The delegation, led by the Executive Vice President of Northwest A&F University, Zhao Zhong comprised of Professors and directors in various divisions within the University; Yu Jin the Director of International Cooperation Division, Xue Xiaorong the director of the Alumni Association, Guo Zhanfeng from the College of Humanities, African Center Haijiangbo and the Board Chairman  Xiaoming Wei.
